Proposals will be expected

• to relate to at least one of the following Research Themes:

1. New approaches to Economic Development

2. Social and Human Development

3. Natural Resources and their Governance

4. Politics, Governance, State and Society

5. Identities, Cultures and Societie

6. Science and Technology for Social Development

• to be coherent, balanced, and feasible,
• to be scientifically innovative and sound,
• to be policy-relevant directly or in the long term,
• to be designed to contribute to socio-economic development in South Africa,
• to be designed to contribute to developing research capacity, and
• to entail co-operation between South African and Dutch researchers.
